Initial Assessment:

Assist Architect in the development of building envelope systems for the exterior building enclosure including interfacing with manufacturers of envelope systems.  A preliminary review of the building envelope systems drawings including a response to the Architect.

Design Meetings:

Attend design review meetings to discuss areas of weatherproofing and roofing. Provide the Architect support in the development of weatherproofing and roofing system approaches plus detailing suggestions of unique requirements through participation in design review meetings, written comments, and generation of sketches to assist in clarifying design approaches to weatherproofing.

Construction Document Review:

Review of construction documents, specifications and details relevant to the exterior building envelope for “weatherproof ness” of the system. Evaluation, along with detailing suggestions, that will improve effectiveness, reduce costs and provide an enhanced weatherproof envelope of building components for the exterior envelope.  Included is the review of construction details, and specifications that relate to weatherproofing of the exterior building envelope. 

Bidding Phase Review:

Prepare responses for use by the Architect to bidder’s questions for the weatherproofing systems. Assist the Architect in the evaluation of bidder’s qualifications.

Envelope Preconstruction:

Attend pre-construction review meeting to discuss building weatherproofing. Provide the Architect support in the pre-construction meeting in coordinating the work of the construction team. 

Mock Ups:

Review and assist in coordination of the on site mockup of the exterior building enclosure elements and their effectiveness.  Assist Architect in the modification when required along with the development of the mock up detailing. 

Field Testing:

Attend field-testing of glazing assemblies undertaken by an approved independent testing laboratory, and provide a written observation report, including recommendations for necessary actions. Review the building envelope testing agency report and provide comments and recommendations to the Architect.

Construction Administration/Field Observation:

Review weatherproofing submittals, shop drawings, and material samples as required by the construction documents. Provide assistance to the Architect in response to general contractor’s requests for information (RFI’s). Assist in identifying non-standard details not specifically dealt with in the Contract Documents, or which have been created by site conditions, and assist Design Team in determination of appropriate solutions for building envelope details and assemblies.

Observe and document field review of weatherproofing installation(s) and required field tests and provide to Architect for project record.  Included is the review of building envelope elements plus a photographically documented report of the review.  Provide updated action lists to be distributed to each trade via the Architect, outlining all outstanding and required deficiency actions.
